Polyurethane,
the material we work with at Prothane. It is a unique material that offers the elasticity of rubber combined with the toughness and
durability of metal. Because urethane is
available in a very broad range (sponge soft to iron hard), it allows the
engineer to replace rubber, plastic and metal with the ultimate in abrasion
resistance and physical properties.
Castable
polyurethane are finding new applications in many industries because urethane
parts provide longer service life when compared to plastics and rubber and
lower noise abatement properties when compared to metals.
Some
of the outstanding physical properties:
Excellent
abrasion resistance
Excellent
tear strength
Excellent
machining properties
Good
Electrical properties
Heat
and cold resistant
High
load-bearing capacity
Longer
wear life
Oil
and Solvent resistant
Self-Lubricating
Properties
Wide
range of coefficient of friction
With
polyurethane components custom moulded to your specifications, you can reduce
your maintenance time and costs while increasing the service life of your
equipment. Parts cast in polyurethane
provide added benefits of lower noise levels, reduced wear, self lubrication plus
abrasion and corrosion resistance.
